My photo, Battersea Power Station, has been shortlisted for inclusion in the Sense the City digital display at London Transport Museum. The display will go on show at London Transport Museum from Saturday 21 January 2012.
The exhibition explores how emerging technologies are transforming the way we live, work and play in our cities. It poses questions about mobility, society and work in the Capital over the next decade, and compares this with past visions of the future. The exhibition closes on 18 March 2012.

The New Original Little Fish Paper Club Handbook - essays of a rock'n roll band
I've had the opportunity to see Oxford band Little Fish perform live a few times. These guys are really passionate about making music and about sharing the journey with their fans. They are writing a book about that journey and need support to get it published through http://www.unbound.co.uk.
Read all about how to make it happen here:

Why the industry needs certified public photographers
Amateur photographers will want to break into the professional market - that is just a reality. We can continue to debate how this is making life more difficult for established pro's and how they now have access to the same relatively affordable technology. Or we can think of a way how to make that path more acceptable and recognised by the industry.

I was up early today. We're experiencing some brilliant weather here in England at the moment with misty mornings and lovely sunshine. I think the weather gods are making up for not giving us a summer earlier this year!?

I just scored a two page spread in a major UK photography magazine! I have my photograph, Reflections of Edinburgh, published in the "Hot Shots" section of Digital Camera Magazine, August 2011, Edition 115, p. 9 - 10.

The Lookout
Another shot from a series with the new Holga. Made me think of the old Russian proverb: "Even one person in a field is a warrior, if she is a Soviet warrior." Or something like that...

2852 - Wheat
Week 28 has arrived. I have fallen behind a little on my 52 weeks project, but I promise to make up for it over the summer.
The photograph was taken on a Holga GN, my first glass lens Holga, and I'm really impressed with the sharpness of the lens.

2350 - Reflections of Edinburgh
A photograph taken in car park below Edinburgh Castle. It rained earlier in the day which allowed me to get these reflections. I love how the spots on the tarmac came out. What is essentially bubble gum and gravel looks like stars in the night sky.

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD PHOTOGRAPH A FRIEND'S WEDDING
Recently I had the opportunity to photograph a friend's wedding. This was a great privilege and honour as my friend is an amazing wedding photographer himself. I am not a wedding photographer, but always wanted to take on the challenge of a wedding. This post is aimed at photographers in a similar position.
If asked to photograph more weddings I will and these are the reasons why:

Castlepoint in New Zealand is one of the most spectacular places on the Wairarapa coastline. The lady and her friend walked along the beach and took photographs of sea gulls and waves. Then she paused and turned to take a quick snap of the lighthouse. I took this photo with a small compact and did some basic post processing in LR.
(Ps. Weeks 2 - 4 are still outstanding, but I promise to post them soon.)

Photographers need challenges. Taking my inspiration from author-photographers such as Kevin Meredith (http://lomokev.com/books/) and Lee Frost (http://www.rubooks.co.uk/product/50-photo-projects/203518/), I decided for 2011 to do a 52 weeks / 52 photographs project.
The first of the project is a photograph of the travelator at Waterloo Station in London. It's been photographed many times before, but I wanted something iconic to symbolise the start of another adventure!
The photograph was taken on a Canon S95 (which I happened to have in my pocket at the time) and some basic post-processing was done to boost the contrast and colours.
Best wishes for 2011!
